Here, at religious places like Kashi, Gaya and Prayag, puja is organized with simplicity, where the amount of Dakshina is minimal. Its objective is to ensure that the importance of worship lies in reverence and faith and not in money.

Ritual Preparation

Collect the ashes in a vessel or urn. Prepare offerings like flowers, incense and a small amount of rice or sesame seeds. If you are doing the immersion in a river bank or temple, you can also prepare a small amount of Ganga water (holy water) for the ritual.

Brahmins or religious pundits may also be invited to offer prayers and guide the family in performing rituals.

After immersion, some families may give food or donations (dakshina) to priests, Brahmins or the needy as a sign of gratitude.

Family members may also pray for a short time for the peace of the deceased's soul and sometimes perform a Shraddha ceremony (a rite of passage in honor of the deceased) after the immersion.
